Carol Stanley

Carol Stanley, Director of Student Services and Lecturer, Emeritus from the School of Social Ecology at the University of California, Irvine received her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a Master's Degree in counseling from California State Long Beach. Her work in photography began over thirty years ago when she purchased a used Nikon and began to peer through the lens!

Close-ups, attention to fine detail, nostalgia reflected in seasonal change, and nuance are the subjects which excite and motivate Ms. Stanley.

She creates both realistic and abstract photographs with subjects ranging from the unexpected beauty in seasonal changes to the atmosphere created by a pair of shoes and cigarettes, common elements of life. Her work has been described as "embodying spirit and a sense of deep emotion."

Carol Stanley's work is shown through this website, at the Pinecrest Fine Art Gallery in Northern California and also by appointment in the photographer's studio.

Her work has been widely recognized (www.wipi.org) and been accepted in a variety of juried shows, most recently, Exposure 2007, Mistlin Gallery, Modesto, CA.

She has developed a line of fine art cards "Light and Lens" which exemplify her work.

All prints are produced by traditional and modern methods which yield archival prints (over 100 years) in both color and black and white. The artist does her own black and white developing, and all of her printing and framing.
